Why do I celebrate Christmas? It is simple. In Luke 2: 10-11, the angel of the LORD said, “ I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.” Good News! Good News because God sent His Son, Christ Jesus, to fulfill the Law and the Prophets. Good News because God came to be with and one of us at the same time. Good news because His birth “for all the people” is a time for all Christians to be in celebration. 2 Corinthians 9:15 says that God sent us an ”indescribable gift” – a gift that we share with others through this joyous time. Good News because God chose to send His Only Son to save a world that refused to listen and continued to live as hopeless people. Celebrate Christmas because God chose not to stay in Heaven, but He came to us as an innocent child to save us from ourselves. Let Jesus truly be “the reason” you celebrate! And if you struggle with all that the world throws at you during the Christmas season, I highly recommend reading The Case for Christmas by Lee Strobel. Let’s celebrate!
