Just when we think that the weather is showing us its favor with warm, sunny days, the cold returns dipping below freezing and making us feel like it will never end. If you are like me, you look forward to the coming of spring! Staying positive during these extremely cold, dreary days can be difficult. Gray skies, cold air, ice, wind, and short days tend to depress us. But, when sunshine peaks through the clouds and warm breezes abound, you can see the attitude of everyone almost change immediately.
In the hot summer, I look forward to fall and winter, but when it gets here I can’t wait for spring. Why do I like spring? I like new life. I can’t help but listen intently to birds’ songs that fill the air. The smell you get after a good rain causes me to breathe life back into my soul. I want to get in the yard working hard to help nurture the flowers that have fought a hard fight all winter – popping out of the ground, forcing their way up through the cold dirt, eventually reaching the bright rays of sunshine, and finally blooming in all their glorious color. Even with ice and snow on the ground, I was recently filled with pleasant thoughts as I witnessed the first daffodils bloom!
Well, guess what? I have great news! In God’s realm every day is spring. New life abounds! Enjoy the life and the world God has given you as you look to the future. And…until it warms up, stay safe and hopeful!
Romans 15:13: May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.
