Too often I look back on life with some trepidation that I did not accomplish all that I wanted to or complete all the goals I set. At the same time, I am excited that I accomplished some great things that I did not plan or anticipate. As a matter of fact, many of the goals I set actually changed. Thinking back further, I can realize that goals and dreams do change and most times for a good reason. You see, as our lives change with each period we go through, so do our goals. Things that I wanted when I was younger no longer always apply – those I can handle. The ones that bother me the most are the recent life goals that I was sure I wanted, but they change. However, they most often change through the leading and will of God. We must listen to our Counselor and Comforter that dwells within us and not the world. My prayer as I move forward in this thing called life, and for anyone reading this, is that we accept changes in our life plans if they are what God would want us to do in our lives. Plan your goals and dreams, but listen for God’s direction. You never know where an unexpected change may take you. And…read Jeremiah 29:11 again. God can and will direct your steps if you will let Him.
